A note from our principal about the recent Ebola case in our neighborhood. Also see this letter from Chancellor Farina

Dear HHS Community:

On October 24, 2014 a physician living on our block who had recently worked with patients in Guinea developed a fever. EMS was contacted and the doctor was taken to Bellevue Hospital where a diagnosis of Ebola was confirmed. At no point were any of our students or staff in contact with the patient or in any danger. All necessary precautions were taken and given the presence of emergency response teams on our block we re-routed our students at dismissal time.

We know there is growing concern about the Ebola virus. Ebola is spread only by directly touching the bodily fluids of an infected person. You cannot be infected simply by being near someone who has the disease. If you have any questions or want additional information, please refer to www.nyc.com/health

Sincerely

Michelle Herbowy, Principal
