HHS PA General Meeting 12/11/21

Present: Erin Ratner (President), Stephanie Assuras (Secretary), Megan Coryat (Secretary), Christopher Minnick (Treasurer), Charles Reilly (Principal), parents (23 participants total)

 

Mr. Reilly Update:

  • 5-day option available for some classes, but cannot offer to all given practical limitations. HHS will begin offering 5-day option to high need groups (e.g., temporary housing, IEP) and phase in others where possible.

  • Students can continue to opt in to blended learning from remote only.  

  • After school program at Boys and Girls Club starting Mon 12/14/20 from 2:20-4:30. This is available for days the child is in person learning.

  • Kindergarten application is now available with application window 12/10/20-1/19/21. Current HHS pre-K student still have to apply. If interested in staying at HHS rank as number 1. Dec 10-Jan 19 application window. Ms. Sylvia will share virtual info session information and how to create MySchools account. 3k and preK applications have not opened up yet.

  • Middle school will receive welcome letter to set up MySchools account to apply. Application and timeline not yet available.

  • iPads ordered in September were received. If still interested contact the school. You can keep laptop or exchange for tablet.

  • Report cards are now available.

Financial Report/Fundraising:

  • $4500 in the bank.

  • No need for fundraising in the same way this year, although donations are always accepted. The PA has considered corporate donation and recently made request. Funds may be used for gingerbread houses and helping to feed some families who need help during the season. Parent Dunayer noted that parents can be helpful in providing corporate contacts. Parent Burd-Orama raised concern regarding corporate sponsorship. Maybe the PA can present a list of possible donors that will be subject to approval.

  • Gretchen did not attend meeting, but Erin gave overview of Friends for HHS. Gretchen requested volunteers. This might be helpful for corporate donations as it is not directly linked to the school.

  • Parent (Burd-Orama) presented idea of providing holiday gift card/grocery store gift certificate to staff and faculty, possible $100, which might be up to $3000 for 30 individuals. Parents would not be required to donate and can offer any amount. Megan presented possibility that Amex card may have lower service fee; she will report back. PA voted and approved.  

Website:

  •  The website is now live, thank you Erin and Mercedes. This should be a living document with updates as needed.

  • Flyers for virtual tours are ready for approval by Mr. Reilly and can be put on the website.

Other:

  • HHS profile on InsideSchools.org is outdated. Although we cannot have a site event due to current restrictions, parents can provide reviews online.
