Hello All! My name is Latasha Holder. I am known to many as, Ms.Tasha. I was born and raised in Spanish Harlem. I grew up in Carver Projects, which stretches from 106 between Park and Madison to 99th Street between Park and Madison. I am the youngest of seven children. I have a beautiful, fun, sweet, and energetic four-year-old boy named, Avery. I enjoy spending time with my huge family at the many gatherings we have. Im a pretty simple being. I usually spend free time laughing, joking around, playing cards, going to the movies, talking to relatives who live in different states, and lounging at lounges when opportunities allow for that. :o) This is my fourth year teaching at HHS. Ive been teaching for a total of nine years. Ive taught Kindergarten for two years and First Grade for seven years. I originally started out my teaching career in a school in the Sunset Park area of Brooklyn. For five years I taught in a self-contained ESL classroom. I currently hold a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a Dual Masters Degree in General and Special Education. Most of my time and life is dedicated to my job and my child. I want the children who walk in my room to have high expectations for themselves and I want them to have that drive and want to be something in life. I enjoy setting the little ones up with an introductory to what life will have to offer them depending on the decisions they choose to make. I realize and understand first hand how our decisions affect us as from young to adulthood. This is why I teach hard, love hard, and am hard on my babies at times. I want all of them to be successful and want them all to have a fair opportunity to the beautiful things life can offer them. Many children fall into letting their community shape who they are and who they will be. This can be a positive or negative thing. I want children who cross my path to believe that they are independent thinkers who can make positive choices. I love teaching and look forward every day to the crazy and beautiful experiences faced day in and day out. Teaching children is a very rewarding job and I have no regrets doing what I do thus far. So wants again, welcome to all who are reviewing and visiting our website.
Kristin Taylor has been working as a kindergarten and first grade teacher at Hamilton Heights School since 2004. She began her career in the New York City public school system in September 2003 as a second grade teacher at PS 173 on Fort Washington Avenue, but after her first year lost that position due to budget cuts. After a frantic week of searching she was hired as a kindergarten teacher at Hamilton Heights Academy, and she has never looked back. The only major hesitation she had when she accepted the position was that as a kindergarten teacher she might have to sing. Eight years later, she sings with kids every day and works with Sharlene, Kara, Tasha and other teachers to plan and emcee Fridays Sing Alongs. Kristin believes passionately in the power of the community at Hamilton Heights School. She also believes in the restorative powers of Bikram Yoga and homemade banana bread. Kristin holds a BA from Vassar College in psychology and an MSEd in the teaching of literacy from Bank Street College.
